Create timestamp proofs to prove your documents haven't changed.

Protect your legal documents, contracts, and intellectual property with the security & integrity of the Bitcoin Blockchain.

Our team plan is designed for law firms and legal professionals.

⚖️ Court-Accepted Proof

Legal Standing in 5 States

Blockchain timestamps have been recognized in 5 US states. More states & countries are expected to recognize this standard. Provides admissible evidence that documents existed untampered since a specific date. Read more here.

🔒 Tamper-Proof Security

Instant Detection of Document Changes

Any modification to a timestamped document is easily detectable. Mathematical proof validates document integrity. Uses millions of Bitcoin nodes to verify file integrity.

💾 Cloud Backups

Your Documents, Your Control

We store your data in the cloud & back it up in multiple locations. You and your clients are welcome to keep your own copies of documents AND timestamps.

How It Works

Think of it as a digital notary that never lies. Here's how we create permanent proof that your documents existed unchanged on a specific date:

1

Upload Your Document

Upload any digital file. Your file stays private and secure.

2

Create Digital Fingerprint

We create a unique digital fingerprint of your file. Identical files produce identical fingerprints; any modification produces a new one.

3

Record on Blockchain

This fingerprint is permanently recorded on Bitcoin's blockchain—a tamper-proof ledger showing the exact date and time your file was stamped.

4

Verify Forever

Anyone can prove your document existed on that date and hasn't changed by comparing its current fingerprint to the blockchain. Matching = authentic.

Real-World Example

Imagine:You create a contract today and timestamp it. Six months later, someone claims you changed a key clause. With Legal Stampy, you can cryptographiclly prove the contract existed in its current form on today's date—unchanged.

The proof: The blockchain shows your document's fingerprint was recorded today. If anyone changed even a single letter, the fingerprint would be completely different, proving tampering.

Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

We create a digital fingerprint of your file and record it on the Bitcoin blockchain using the OpenTimestamps standard. This creates permanent proof that your document existed in its exact form on a specific date and hasn't been changed since.

If someone modifies a document that was timestamped, the verification will show that the timestamp doesn't match the document, proving tampering occurred.

Yes! Our Team plan is specifically designed with law firms in mind. You can manage multiple clients, organize documents by clients, collaborate with team members, and provide timestamp proofs to your clients.

While we support multiple browsers like Chrome, Safari, and Firefox, we recommend using Brave Browser.

Brave browser has security features built in by default that can help prevent you & your employees from downloading hazardous files and provides additional privacy protections.

Technical Questions

No. Only a cryptographic hash (like a digital fingerprint) is stored on the Bitcoin blockchain. Your actual document/file remains private and is never uploaded to the blockchain.

No. We handle all the technical aspects. You simply upload your document and download your timestamp proof.

Your timestamp proofs will remain valid forever. The OpenTimestamps protocol is an open-source standard. Anyone can still verify your timestamp proofs using other similar tools or your own Bitcoin node, even if our service no longer exists

If we ever shut down, we will give all of our customers ample notice to download their documents from our cloud service ahead of time.

When a timestamp is "Upgraded", it means the stamping process is now fully complete for that file and is now permanently recorded on the Bitcoin blockchain.

Initially, timestamps are "pending" while waiting for Bitcoin blockchain confirmation, which can take several hours. Our system automatically upgrades the timestamp proof for you. Once your timestamp proof is upgraded, you can verify your files independently even without our platform as they are on the Bitcoin blockchain.

FYI - Your files are not public, just the hash of your files which is all that is needed for verification.

Legal Questions

Bitcoin timestamps have been recognized in at least 4 US states. Even in states without specific laws, cryptographic timestamps can serve as strong supporting evidence.

Yes. Timestamps provide cryptographic proof that anyone can independently verify, including court-appointed experts. They demonstrate that a document existed in its exact state on a specific date and has not been altered since.

Security Questions

Yes. We use enterprise-grade encryption for all document storage.

We require two-factor authentication (2FA) for all accounts to ensure only authorized users can access your documents. We also use enterprise-grade encryption, secure password requirements, and monitor for suspicious activity.
